How long does it take for a habit to become a habit?
Anything after a couple of weeks of routine should start to become a habit. However, getting over that first hump on your own and developing it into a habit is the most difficult, most crucial step. Self-care may feel like an easier habit to develop, but you get busy. Things come up. Setting aside that time for yourself may not always seem possible. In the early stages, take increments of time that are realistic for you, and then slowly build from there.
Even if it’s just ten or fifteen minutes of meditation, relaxation, or yoga, they can quickly become rewarding, positive habits. Then, you can start extending the time you put into it.
